The Blizzard of 2016 recap. Nope it isn’t a race.
Warning: a ton of pictures of snow and dogs. 🙂
I am doing my best to type this as the hours of shoveling on Sunday have rendered my body sore beyond belief.
Mother nature dumped over 2 feet of snow on us over the weekend. It was awesome! Well, except for the shoveling.
I drove over to Mr. SOTSS’ house Friday night when there was only a few inches on the ground. I figured if I was going to be housebound for a bit it would be more fun spending the time with him and his girls. We completed a jigsaw puzzle…
And made Shrinky Dinks…
And during the peak of the storm when they had a travel ban we just took the dogs and the sleds around the neighborhood streets. Chester actually pulls the sled. He’s pretty talented.
Both Mr. SOTSS and I tried out our snow shoes too.
And a blizzard wouldn’t be complete without chocolate chip pancakes and bacon for breakfast.
After we finished shoveling we headed to the park to find a place to go sledding. Unfortunately the main entrance to the park was closed so we couldn’t get to the big hill. But we had fun none-the-less. I wore my snow shoes again to get a little bit of a workout. The dogs had a blast too.
On Monday morning I tried walking Duncan on the grounds of my townhouse community but it was a bit challenging as the paths were super narrow and claustrophobic…
So I took Duncan to the park near my house and was happy to see they plowed the outer loop.
And yesterday I finally got out for a run! It felt AMAZING! The temps were mild today….in the 40s.
Duncan is exhausted from all the fun in the snow so he’s just been napping and snuggling with the slipper he smuggled.
I’m hoping to get one more run in this week before heading up to Vermont for a weekend of skiing.
So did you get hit with Jonas (The blizzard, not the musician =)?
What are your favorite things to do when you get snowed in?
Do you live somewhere that’s warm and never gets snow?
I haven’t made shrinky dinks since I was a kid! Such a throwback.
Shrinky dinks! I didn’t know they still had those!
You got way more snow than we did – looks like a fun weekend! We watched Harry Potter and chased Buddy around the yard 🙂
It looks like you had a great time but boy does it look cold. I seriously cannot even imagine. I live in Southern NJ, but our flight home was cancelled because of the storm. Now the snow is slowly starting to melt and I cannot say I mind. 😉
I’m somewhere warm! But we still hunker down when it rains or it’s really cold 30’s-40’s). Our favorite card games right now are Spot It and spoons.
