Trip to Saint Louis and honeysuckle running season
Hi folks!
I’m back from a quick trip to Saint Louis (and southern Illinois) and can’t tell you how great it felt to wake up next to this muppet this morning.
I flew out to St. Louis on Thursday and had a few hours to walk around the city before driving to southern Illinois where my nephew was graduating from high school the following day.
This was my first time visiting St. Louis so I knew I’d have to walk to see the Gateway Arch and also check out Busch Stadium, where the Cardinals play.
By 3pm I was on the road to southern Illinois. The family all met up for a BBQ dinner Thursday night at 17ST BBQ.
Friday morning I went for a run. It was really hot and humid but how could I complain? I ran! I found a road that had a bike lane which was great….didn’t see a single biker so I had it all to myself.
In the evening we attended the graduation and then went back to the hotel restaurant for a little celebration. I really had a wonderful time and couldn’t be prouder of my nephew.
He even hugged me twice…..unsolicited!!! My niece and I got to spend some QT together too. We shared a hotel room and even took a quick dip in the hotel pool.
And then on Saturday morning I made the 2 hour drive back to St. Louis to catch my flight home.Β Mr. SOTSS came to scoop me up at the airport and there was Duncan in the front seat. He was pretty happy to see me.Β And I was pretty happy to see both of them. After a nice walk with the dogs Mr. SOTSS and I grabbed a quick bite and caught up on the last few days.
Yesterday morning I felt good enough to go running again. The honeysuckles were so fragrant! It’s definitely honeysuckle running season again!I’m still not ready to make any sort of structured running plans…Just hoping to run 1 or 2 times a week pain free. Once I get into mid-summer I’ll decide if I feel like training for anything. The rest of the day was fairly chill….and speaking of chill…we ended the night with his and hers ice cream treats! Mine was salted pretzel and his chocolate espresso.
And tonight I get to return to yoga! I miss it!
Have you ever been to Saint Louis?
Do you like road trips?
Any big milestones in your family? Graduations? New babies? Anniversaries?
We enjoyed St. Louis. We actually went on our 1 year anniversary.
That’s great!
I totally wish every day could end with ice cream. It’s my favorite summertime treat! Looks like a fun trip and a great time to visit a new part of the country.
yes! ice cream and summertime go hand in hand for sure!
I’ve never been to Saint Louis, that archway looks pretty incredible!
Looks like you had a wonderful trip π
I love road trips, I’m hoping next year to take one around Ireland π

That sounds awesome! I’ve never been to Ireland. A week after I met Mr. SOTSS he went to Ireland for his cousin’s wedding and rented a motorcycle and round all the way around the country. He would send me emails with pictures every few days. Looked so picturesque!
What a fun weekend! I’ve not been to St. Louis but really want to go. I’m so happy to hear you have a few pain free runs each week. It inspires me and gives me hope!
Hang in there Susan! Meanwhile after my short run yesterday my toe felt a little more sore than usual so now I’m most likely going to go back to one run a week instead of 2. Can’t believe it’s been almost 12 weeks already.
