Hello. Happy (black) Friday! I didn’t go anywhere near a shopping mall today. I’m not a fan of chaos and lines. I took Duncan to the park for some fresh air instead.
Let’s backtrack a bit. Last Sunday I went for a run in Mr. SOTSS’ neighborhood while he was at the Girls on the Run 5k with his girls.
When I finished it was already the afternoon so I refueled with some red wine and a salami and provolone sandwich!
Monday and Tuesday were pretty uneventful. I worked both days. Scholastic (where I work) is all decorated for the holidays.
Wednesday I worked from home. I took Duncan for a walk at lunchtime and by 4pm I was able to go for a run.
I was so pumped with energy that my first mile split was 9:45 although I peetered out and by 3.5 miles I decided I was done. I think that somewhere along the run I aggravated my left hamstring a bit. Ironically it’s the right hamstring that I hurt back in August but overall both hamstrings have been tight and since the marathon I’ve been terrible at foam rolling and stretching so I am totally responsible for this.
I ran again yesterday for another easy 3 miles before heading out to my family’s for our Thanksgiving feast.
After a few hours at my family’s Thanksgiving feast I drove about 15 minutes up the road to Mr. SOTSS’ aunt’s house and joined them for a little bit too. Then I followed Mr. SOTSS’ and his girls back to his house and we spent some time on the couch playing video games and chilling for a little bit and of course Duncan and Chester found room on the couch too. Thankful is an understatement. Really, so thankful that I enjoy Mr. SOTSS’ girls just as much as they enjoy me.
The girls went up to bed, I spent a few extra minutes catching up with Mr. SOTSS and then I headed home. It was late and Duncan was happy that it was bedtime.
Duncan and I will be keeping it low key tonight.
We’ve got an early rise tomorrow. We’re headed to Princeton, New Jersey for a running festival to support Girls on the Run. You can run any distance from 5K all the way up to 50k! Duncan and I will be doing just 5k. We have to get back home by 10am because I’m going to a college football game in the afternoon.
And Sunday I’m driving upstate to visit a friend for the day.
So do you participate in Black Friday?
How was your last run?
U.S. readers: How was your Thanksgiving?
i did black friday after everyone had left from thanksgiving dinner. i like it, when you go later and not for the doorbusters the crowds arent nearly as bad and since i had nothing major on my shopping list this year i was able to get everything i wanted 🙂 your puppy blanket looks like heaven by the way…and by puppy blanket i mean puppies piled on top of you while you play video games 🙂
Ha! Yes, the two of them are warmer than a down comforter =)
I never participate in Black Friday because I can’t stand the crowds and the craziness of even trying to find a parking spot. But, I certainly did a lot of online shopping over the weekend and today!
Online shopping definitely has its pluses.
