Hi!

How’s your little weekend going? Mine is going great!

First, before I tell you about my Holiday Windows Run I wanted to share a couple of cute dog pictures I took at the Pictures with Santa event at the dog park I volunteered at. I mentioned it in this post from last weekend.

And while I’m in picture show and tell mode…

Here are some pictures I took for my friend and her husband’s christmas card. Aren’t they the cutest couple? She wanted a little vintage/throwback look. She did all the styling herself. A bit of a fashionista. =)

This porch was full of charm from the arched windows to the hanging lantern style light and the weathered floor boards

Happy Monday! I’m off today (although I have a dentist appointment shortly….#boo) and have just been enjoying this long weekend so much.

Starting backwards….

I completed the Staten Island Half Marathon yesterday and miraculously had a really good race. I’ll have a complete recap up soon. Thank you to those who gave me knee advice. I’m really happy to report it held up. Just some mild pain from mile 11 to the finish.

Saturday rained all day but when it lightened up a bit we took the dogs for a stroll through the park.

Friday I attended a wedding. My hair behaved and my dress zippered….#winning

I got to see some old friends/coworkers.

And I had so much fun with my partner in crime pigging out on the best cocktail hour eats. I love that he loves food as much as I do. Food is not just fuel in our world. I failed at taking pics of the delicious eats because I was too busy shoving in as much as I could in an hour. But the highlights were mini red snapper fish tacos, crab cake sliders and mini philly cheese steak sandwiches. Oh the shitake mushroom tempura was pretty tasty too. =)

By favorite accessory of the night =)

My favorite accessory of the night =)

After my dentist appointment this morning, I’ll be taking Duncan upstate to meet up with my friend Susan and her Jack Russell (Duncan’s girlfriend) Lucy for a hike along the Hudson River. It’ll be a great way to get that lactic acid buildup out of my quads from the race yesterday. The fall foliage should be pretty amazing too.

Holiday weekends are the best!

What did you do? Are you working today?

Hi folks

Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was perfect.

I ran twice on Friday wrapping up the bulk of my Ragnar training.

photo 1

My early run was S-L-O-W but in the evening I got a little pep in my step. =)

I spent Saturday indoors almost all day thanks to the rain but I watched the movie The Notebook. It came out 10 years ago and I hadn’t ever seen it before until Saturday. Cray Cray! I didn’t run though because the cumulative running in the days prior left me sore and I needed a rest day. But I did do some push ups (over the dog for added skill) Combined with an all day rainy day it was perfect.

Yesterday I went for a hike that lasted a couple of hours. It was great cross-training.

I also had a root beer float! So good!

And these characters got to go to Petco!

Did you say Petco???

And I am almost finished packing for my trip. Even though the relay isn’t until Friday I’m headed out west a few days early to visit with my Arizona first cousins!

The weather here has become just a bit cooler giving us a great Fall preview. I’ll be in Napa on the first day of Fall but fly home right after and can’t wait to be returning home just as my favorite season begins. I just swapped out my summery hand soap for this one.

photo 3Have a great week!

What’s your favorite season? Do you live somewhere where the seasons change? Do you swap out scented things like candles, bedding etc for the seasons?

Hi folks.

I’ve been staying at a friend’s house for the weekend keeping an eye on things…

Mostly furry things…a cat and 3 dogs plus Duncan is here with me which makes it 4 dogs and I can’t leave out Fishy Fish Fish who isn’t furry (and thankfully still alive).

When I arrived last night I got the ball rolling with dinner. It was almost a perfect success. But the little white guy Bailey needed a little coaxing by way of fresh turkey before he’d eat his dinner. Finally task 1 was complete.

I had packed myself dinner consisting of a big salad with a couple of hard boiled eggs and fresh turkey breast (which you now know i shared with the pooches). But then I had a hankering for something sweet. So I did what anyone would do when house-sititng, right?

I raided their cookie jar! Look, she even has a reminder sign there too about eating cookies! Don’t worry, I’m not in trouble. Funny thing was my friend didn’t even know she HAD cookies in her cookie jar. LOL!

This morning, after feeding Fishy Fish Fish (named by a 3 year old) and the dogs I went out for a bike ride.

I reached my highest mileage to date and it was my fastest too. RunKeeper congratulated me!

When I first got injured and started biking, my goal was to get to 30 miles. I still want to hit 30 and hopefully 30+ but i’m officially back to running on Tuesday and I’ll need to focus on getting some long slow runs in before the SF Marathon but I’m still keeping that goal out there for me to reach soon enough. And trust me, this is all good! I’m so happy to be getting ready to return to running but still WANTING to bike long. YAY for expanding my Sweat Out the Small Stuff repertoire.

So now i’m blogging while Duncan supervises as usual.

photo 3The other furr kids are supervising napping too.

It’s always best to nap straddling the couch

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. I’ve got a short week. Only working Monday-Wednesday. Anyone else have some days off this week for Independence Day? Do you like fireworks?
